Supporting GNA’s current growth strategy, Andrew Hassell and Danielle Swann have both been promoted to Directors, following 12 and 16 years in the Birmingham-based company respectively.

In their new roles, Andrew and Danielle will be responsible for building on our valued client relationships and leading innovation within the practice and work sectors.

Their promotions follow the appointment of Adam McPartland and Lisa Deering to joint Managing Directors last year, signalling an exciting new chapter for the 20-year old practice.

Over the next 10 years, we aim to expand the practice’s brand and geographical reach. Having a strong leadership team is essential to this growth strategy. Both Andrew and Danielle have decades of experience, strong client relationships and exceptional design and technical ability; all of which will be instrumental to the leadership team as we move forward.

Lisa Deering Managing Director

With a career spanning over 25 years, Andrew has successfully delivered a wide range of projects, developing a specialism within education. Notable projects include Watling Academy, Milton Keynes first super school and Kenilworth School & Sixth Form, Warwickshire’s largest educational campus. Andrew’s deep-rooted commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in his work, and he actively contributes to GNA’s internal sustainability group.

Fuelled by the desire to create inclusive environments, Danielle has over 17 years’ experience in the industry and has developed a strong reputation for delivering dementia-friendly spaces that enhance people’s quality of life as well as considered conservation led projects for our valued higher education clients. Projects include the award winning Ada Belfield Centre and Library, refurbishment of the Grade I listed Barber Institute of Fine Arts and the new National Centre for the Decarbonisation of Heat for the University of Birmingham. Beyond her design work, Danielle is a tireless advocate for social value, championing GNA’s strategy for making a meaningful impact and reinforcing the company’s mission to be a force for positive change.

Andrew and Danielle bring unique perspectives and invaluable expertise to their new roles as Directors. They will be instrumental in shaping the future of Glancy Nicholls Architects, ensuring that we continue to innovate, collaborate, and deliver projects that make a lasting difference. Danielle and Andrew display the devotion, energy and talent befitting of their new positions and I’d like to congratulate both of them on their well-deserved promotions.
