The Longbridge Leisure site originally set out to establish a popular destination at the heart of the local community and provide an adaptable, self-sustaining space which will attract social interaction and support local business enterprises. The development is now home to Herbert’s Yard, an all-year-round events and dining location in Longbridge that is one of the UK’s most successful street food venues.
Located in the heart of the town centre, it provides 6,458 sq. ft of brand-new events space. The site, built by St. Modwen and run by multi-award-winning street food pioneers Digbeth Dining Club, has year-round events while offering indoor and outdoor space for a wide range of corporate and community uses.
The temporary structure provides a flexible, high-quality, and innovative community space which reflects the town's aspirations for 'a real sense of place with a strong identity and distinctive character.' Sustainable timbers were utilised throughout, light fittings were sourced from the original Car Assembly Building, and all the food and drink suppliers are local, thus supporting the local economy.
