Luxury residential refurbishment in Birmingham's business district

Working with Adapt Real Estate, Glancy Nicholls Architects have designed and delivered a refurbishment and extension scheme located in the hub of Birmingham City Centre’s Colmore Business District. With the original building dating back over 100 years, two additional floors have been added to the existing five-storey building to create several luxury living apartments.

Careful consideration of the development’s design was required in the early stages, due to the scheme's close proximity to multiple Grade II and II* Listed buildings. The site (Cornwall Street, Birmingham) is home to several buildings of special historic and architectural significance, dating back to as early as 1899.

The scheme offers luxury city-centre living, comprising a mixture of studios, 1-2-bedroom apartments, duplexes and penthouses. The ground floor houses three new commercial units for hospitality (bar/restaurant) use.

The development is within walking distance of many Birmingham amenities. Marketed under the name of The Lightwell, the development stands to become a landmark residential development in the UK’s second city.
