Glancy Nicholls Architects were commissioned by St Modwen to provide additional retail space within their Trentham Gardens masterplan.
The solution was to provide a contemporary single storey building, in keeping with the parks approach to traditional materials used in a contemporary way. Zinc and Western Red Cedar Cladding wee used along with curtain wall glazing, to enhance both the vista and view into and out of the restaurant to maximise their impact on the site. This was then fitted out under a separate contract by the tenant. Designed to provide 200 covers, with external and internal seating under cover of their extended canopy.
Trentham gardens continues to be one of the most visited attractions in Staffordshire, so to incorporate a new building into the historic parks and gardens environment has been a rewarding experience.
