A partnership development, Oaklands is an award-winning development that brings together a wide range of high-quality services to support the needs of older adults in South Derbyshire. GNA worked closely with the client team from RIBA stage C through to RIBA stage L, following our novation to the successful main contractor.
The building itself consists of a 32-bedroom specialist community care centre, 88 extra care apartments, 2 guest rooms, an office suite for Careline services and numerous shared/community facilities. These are inclusive of a restaurant, bar, gym, multi-use village hall, library, therapy suite, hairdressers, treatment/consultation suite and craft rooms.
Since opening in 2012, the development has been hailed a huge success. As a result of the design and facilities available, there have been a number of instances where residents have been able to re-skill themselves. The residents and staff are delighted with the environment created, and the local communities’ use of the facilities have given the building a vibrancy that has exceeded the original vision.
Awarded a gold standard accreditation by the University of Stirling, the development also won the RICS Residential category for the East Midlands Region Awards 2013.
