The National Transport Design Centre (NTDC) provides a dedicated research facility in the field of transport and automotive research in design, aerodynamics and virtual and physical modelling, to enhance and develop current and declining skills within the industry. In addition to the research office, the design studio environment offers:
- A six-metre interactive power wall which allows users to explore detailed design and engineering concepts in virtual reality
- Advanced clay milling facilities for creating physical models of vehicles
- A projection mapping system which can cast digital images onto 3D objects below, helping designers to assess how multiple options would appear on full-scale models.
At first floor level, the building is also equipped with additional incubation space for SMEs to increase the capacity of the tech park, thus providing much needed space for growing small businesses.
