The Meadow View Centre is situated within the Darley Dales in Derbyshire, five minutes from Matlock Town Centre. The centre opened its doors in January 2016 and now provides a Specialist Residential Care facility for the elderly with serious dementia. This bespoke modern building is specially designed to accommodate the particular needs of its residents.

The accommodation consists of 16 long term and 16 short term en-suite bedrooms with associated dining and lounge areas. The project also includes: a restaurant/cafe, hair dresser, activity rooms, a full production kitchen, consultancy rooms and treatment facilities etc. The building is the focal point for delivering services to older people with more complex levels of need, including dementia, and promotes individual requirements for independence, well-being and dignity.

The facility is on a sloping site within an area of outstanding natural beauty within the Darley Dales. The contemporary design takes into account elements of the local vernacular and is terraced to maximise the views of the countryside beyond the site. Throughout the design process, the aim of the client and design team was to provide a welcoming contemporary building that would enhance its location and maximise the views over the Darley Dales. It was imperative that the building did not appear institutional in appearance.

Meadow View won an RIBA East Midlands Award 2017.
