The Bank Tower II Climbs Taller
Glancy Nicholls Architects and Regal Property Group have recently submitted an application to increase the height of the currently-under-construction second tower of the Left Bank Development.
Tower II, located on Broad Street in the heart of Birmingham City Centre, commenced ground works on site back in summer 2017 and the structural core has now reached level 20; almost equalling its brass clad sister, Tower I. Works on the structural frame are now underway, with façade works due to commence by Wates Construction Ltd in Q2 2018.
Following a positive reception to market, Regal Property Group charged GNA with designing a crown structure containing two additional floors of loft style apartments, in order to capitalise on the incredible views on offer over Birmingham City Centre and the West Midlands beyond. This crown structure continues the sleek silver filigree aesthetic of the original Tower II proposal and includes continuous vertical LED lighting, providing Broad Street with a new landmark halo.
The additional crown will push Tower II over 100 meters tall, making it Birmingham’s second tallest habitable building on completion and an unofficial skyscraper.
The Bank Tower I is slated for handover in Q3 2018, with Tower II on programme to complete in Q4 2019.
