Glancy Nicholls were commissioned to design a new training centre and associated classrooms for National Grid at their Eakring site. The new training centre provides safe, top quality training to those who need the skills to go out and work on high voltage substations.

The steel framed 2,200sqm building provides students with double height workshop, training bays and classrooms, there are also offices and staff spaces within the building. The design is simple but with interesting features, the building has two-storeys to the front which house the classrooms, a large glazed wall looking into the workshop from the lobby, utilised solar hot water and fully fitted out AV installations in the classrooms. The building is fully DDA compliant and has CCTV feeding to the existing onsite security office.
